Curriculum

This curriculum is valid for all students who started their studies since the winter term 2011/2012. For questions regarding the old curriculum, please contact us.

Here you can find an introductory presentation regarding the new regulations and the university.

Each student has to complete in total 120 credits for the come.tum program, 90 credits from the courses and 30 credits from the master´s thesis. The 90 credits achieved through course work are divided into 3 parts.

2.  24 credits of compulsory elective courses

For 2. and 3. semester 4 compulsory courses are offered. 2 out of 4 courses for each semester must be selected. Remaining compulsory elective courses can also be selected as elective courses if desired.

3.  30 credits of elective courses

30 credits = 18 ECTS (2. Semester) + 12 ECTS (3. Semester) of elective courses, to be chosen from numerous course offers. All (not selected) compulsory elective courses can alternatively be choosen as elective courses. Note that the range of elective courses might change from year to year dependent on the availability of guest lecturers. The official and complete list of elective courses will be published in TUMonline.

Among the 30 credits have to be 21 credits from courses out of the official curriculum. That means we can accredit 9 credits from "foreign" courses (like courses in the ATHENS Program, courses offered by the faculty of mechanical engineering, which are not listed in the official curriculum, etc.). You have to ask the course director whether one of these foreign courses can be accredited. The amount of credits (within these 9 credits) from language courses offered by the language center of TUM is limited to 3. (For international students this can be a German course, for German students this can be a course for a language which they do not know yet or which they want to improve - except English)

From the accreditation excepted are fundamental courses from bachelor studies or courses which contend is very similar to courses from the COME curriculum.

After the successful completion of the program (120 credits), students are awarded a Master of Science. Additionally, highly qualified students can join the Bavarian Graduate School of Computational Engineering and follow the honours program described here. Eligible candidates are then also entitled to study towards a doctoral degree without having to meet additional academic requirements.
